Dr. Lisa Friis

Dr. Lisa Friis (PI) and Dr. Paulette Spencer’s (Co-PI) project entitled “RET Site: Bioengineering Toolkits for 4th Grade Teachers (BET 4Teachers)” has been awarded for $500,000 (first 2 years guaranteed, 3rd year funding contingent on outcomes) by the National Science Foundation, Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program.

Michael Detamore

Michael Detamore, BioE Track Director and Faculty Affiliate, was singled out and rewarded for his teaching excellence during the first week of the fall semester.

Cory Berkland

For his project entitled “Drug Nanoparticle Powders in Pulmonary Medicine,” Dr. Berkland has been awarded a Phase I grant for $120,000 per year for two years.  He will compete for the Phase II award, which if awarded, would provide another $130,000 per year for two years.

Sommer is a 2008 - 2012 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in bioengineering. She received a B.S. (2007) in a dual major of engineering with a mechanical emphasis and dance from Hope College in Holland, MI.

Clayton Wauneka

Clayton is a 2008 - 2012 Self Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in bioengineering. In 2007 he received a B.S. in electrical engineering with a minor in mathematics and a B.A. in Spanish from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
